Paillot's Marriage Index gives his surname as Chick, but on his son's Baptism Record it is given as Cheek.
Note the Baptism (6/12/1778in North Petherton) and parentage is tentative and is ascribed just on the grounds that it is the only baptism of a Samuel Chick/Cheek found in North Petherton about the right time.

Samuel married Mary Green, daughter of John Green and Mary Brice, on 21 Oct 1804 in North Petherton, St Mary's.¹⁴ (Mary Green was born in 1784 in North Petherton.)
